"In any given moment, we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety." - Abraham Maslow
Carrie Nicholes, LCSW-C
I pride myself on being different from the average therapist. I know coming to therapy can be a little intimidating, so my first goal is to establish a connection that puts you at ease. My down-to-earth approach won't feel stuffy or overly clinical, but you'll still leave with a toolkit full of skills to lead a more fulfilling and satisfying life.
I'm passionate about helping adolescents, young adults, and adults manage anxiety, reduce stress, and develop a positive relationship with themselves.
Anxiety can feel overwhelming, even paralyzing. My goal is to teach you to make small, impactful changes that will help you rise above anxiety.
You have it in you to be compassionate with others, but you're having a hard time believing you deserve that same measure of kindness and encouragement.
Somewhere along the way, you lost sight of your worth and confidence. You know your negative self-talk is hurting you, but you're not sure how to shift your perspective.
My approach is all about discovering your resilience and helping you bloom. I believe in empowering my clients with practical tools and knowledge in a nurturing, non-judgmental environment. I’m warm, yet direct, and love working with people who are ready to make lasting changes.
I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, focusing on overall wellness. I incorporate elements of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and a strengths-based approach into my practice.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE
I'm originally a West Coast girl, and my first job was scooping ice cream at the Tillamook Cheese Factory.
I was a DJ in high school at a small radio station (my friend and I even had our own radio show!).
You're unlikely to have met someone who loves good chocolate as much as I do.
I lived in France & Switzerland for a year and a half, and I'm always fantasizing about the next opportunity to travel.
I love spending time with my family (including our newest addition, Felix the pup) and friends.
