Katie Heinold, LMSW

(she/her)

Licensed Clinical therapist

I am so glad that you are here, because whether you decide to work with myself or another great therapist, this is the first step in your therapy journey that can lead to long-term healing and growth. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental environment during our sessions, so that you can feel comfortable expressing yourself and collaborating with me on your goals. While I enjoy working with clients of all ages, I am particularly passionate about working with children and their families to promote emotional growth and positive behavioral change. I wish you the very best on your therapy journey and I would be honored to be a part of it.

I offer complimentary 15-minute consultations and am available to connect via emailphone,  or you can schedule an appointment at the link below.

Child
Counseling

Play therapy can provide a unique opportunity for children to build emotional expression skills, develop coping skills, and heal from trauma. Additionally, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy teaches essential life skills, such as relaxation techniques, behavioral modification, and identifying and replacing negative thought patterns.

Parenting
Skills

Whether you are currently navigating challenging behavioral concerns with your child or you are interested in learning how to better support your child during their therapy journey, our sessions can be a space to explore practical techniques and skills that can be used to assist your child at home and at school.

Emotion Regulation

Your “window of tolerance” is essentially the zone in which you feel calm, safe, and are able to effectively manage your daily life. Together, we can work towards identifying the triggers that cause you to leave your window of tolerance and practice skills that can help you return to this ideal state during difficult times.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach is largely client-led. I believe that you are the expert on your story and my job is to help you work towards the changes that you want to see in your life. One of my goals as a therapist is to help empower you to make the decisions that feel right for you, so you are able to live a happier and more fulfilling life. In our sessions, you ultimately decide the direction that you want to take and I will help you get there.

Although my therapeutic approach can vary based on your needs, I typically use aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy in my sessions. Additionally, I use a strengths-based perspective to help empower you to see all that you are capable of achieving.
