“Being kind to yourself is one of the greatest kindnesses . . . We often wait for kindness…
but being kind to yourself can start now.”- Charlie Mackesy, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse

Maryellen Hauver, RDN, LDN

I'm a registered dietitian nutritionist dedicated to helping people make peace with food and their bodies. The world would tell us food is meant to be manipulated and our bodies are subject to our control, but this harmful messaging creates distrust and shame. As a non-diet dietitian, I help people change their behaviors without feeling constrained by rigid rules.

I specialize in eating disorder nutrition therapy for adults and young adults. My experience providing individualized care has reinforced my belief that every person is complex and unique. Because of this, I respectfully consider the variety of factors that contribute to your individual experience and sensitively tailor interventions that will be most effective for you. Utilizing motivational interviewing techniques, a Health At Every Size approach, and intuitive eating principles, I embrace diversity and empower others to develop personal skills for achieving and maintaining wellness.

I offer complimentary 15-minute consultations, and am available to connect via email, phone, or you can schedule an appointment at the link below.

A framework for re-discovering and honoring the body’s cues related to food and movement while letting go of rules and thought patterns that keep us trapped in a dieting mentality. This process will empower individuals to build body trust, attunement, and respect.

HAES® is a holistic approach to health that serves as an alternative to weight-centric healthcare. It celebrates body diversity and supports sustainable self care behaviors that are aligned with intuitive eating, life-enhancing movement, and body respect. The HAES community seeks an end to weight discrimination and the internalized weight stigma that is created by our cultural obsession with weight loss and pursuing an impossible thin-ideal.

Based on the evidence that diets will fail for the vast majority of people and the observation that dieting attempts only result in a lingering, toxic mixture of self-degradation and guilt...It is time for a new approach, and a new wave of dietitians and medical professionals are jumping aboard. We will guide you to let go of rule-based eating and exercise and instead reclaim the connection to your body’s innate wisdom.

I seek to provide a calm, peaceful space with compassion and empathy that allows you to reflect, create change, and grow.
